Description

Falling from the sky like a star, the dropship slammed down into the arid wastes of the planet on the outer rim. Surviving the terrific crash, the Mechwarrior commander and his two comrades made their way across a hostile desert. Vanquishing deadly beasts and primitive nomads, fortune finally favored the brave as they stumbled upon an ancient ruin.

Blasted by a nuclear attack untold ages past, buried below the desert surface they uncovered a Lost Tech manufacturing base, which unbelievably proved operational. The three Mechwarriors were stunned to discover the base contained a truly monstrous Mech, only whispered of in legend... a prototype... The 200 Ton Archangel "Azrael" Battlestation (Behemoth)!

Rising from its sand choked grave, like a phoenix from the ashes, a Lance of fast moving mechs, bent of taking it as a prize, attacked like vultures. Standing its ground, Azrael lashed out with unheard of ferocity, 4 Gauss Cannons and 6 Large Pulse Lasers firing. Three of the enemy mechs fell, a forth was severely damaged and limped away, much slower as the Battlestation raked it with a parting barrage of machine gun fire.

I had fun actually playing out that scenario over the course of several Battletech/Mechwarrior games as that commander who got some seriously lucky dice rolls.

Getting that mechanized beastie fully operational with 4 turret mounted gauss cannons and 3  large pulse lasers in each arm, coupled with a machine gun for close range engagement, was devastation walking!

Several other weapon spreads were tried, eventually upgrading the 4 turret weapon mounts to a blistering array of Rotary Assault Cannons, achieve the maximum possible damage to target.
